About me.

FREEDOM

My name is Sheena and teaching yoga is one of most enjoyable things I know. My first yoga experience was when I was 10 years old, and it was among the community of retired men and women at Lumphini Park, in the middle of Bangkok, Thailand. My mother thought it would be a great experience during summer vacation to wake up at the break of dawn for an outdoor yoga session. Of course, she graciously let me tag along (or was dragged along, we could neither confirm nor deny). I cannot recall what type of yoga it was or what asanas we did, but I remember it being a very positive experience. Partly due to my flexible 10-year-old body with 5-year-experience of ballet training, but mostly due to the warmth and welcoming environment it was. That experience did not solely shape how I view and teach yoga, but it is a major one. Smiling crowd, movements fuelled by controlled breathing, getting to know and meeting your body as it is where ego is left at the door would always be my favourite way to spend my free time. And now I get to bring those warmth and welcoming to my classes.
